Help Liz Hartman Through an Unexpected Medical Crisis

My name is Craig Hartman, and I am Liz’s father. I’m reaching out on behalf of my daughter during an incredibly difficult and unexpected medical crisis.

In the early morning hours of September 12th, Liz’s life changed without warning when she was rushed by ambulance to Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital, where she remains hospitalized and receiving intensive medical care.

Liz is a sweet, caring, and loving person who means so much to her family and friends. Seeing someone who is normally so independent suddenly face such a serious health battle has been heartbreaking.

Her medical team is working to determine and treat the full extent of her condition, which appears to involve a serious infection complicated by underlying health issues and possible neurological effects with hopefully temporary memory lapses. Her motor skills and mobility have been severely affected and she is currently unable to walk on her own. Right now, our focus is simply on helping Liz stabilize, heal, and begin the long road toward recovery.

Unfortunately, that road will not end when she leaves the hospital.

Liz is facing an immediate loss of income along with mounting expenses. Once she is medically able to leave the hospital, she is expected to need continued rehabilitation and support that may include outpatient physical therapy, in-home care, medical equipment, medications, transportation to appointments, and assistance with basic living expenses while she is unable to work. Once home they may need to relocate to a bottom floor apartment as they live on the top floor as well.

Our ultimate goal is to raise $10,000 to help cover Liz’s therapy, recovery-related care, and essential living expenses during this incredibly difficult time. Every little bit is so appreciated & adds up!

Returning to her normal life, independence, and work may feel far away right now, but we are holding onto hope and taking things one day at a time. Liz has a long journey ahead of her, and we want her to be able to focus her energy on getting stronger rather than worrying about how she will afford the care she needs or keep up with everyday expenses.

Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing Liz’s fundraiser with others would mean just as much to our family. All proceeds will go directly to Liz.

Most importantly, please keep Liz in your thoughts as she fights to regain her health, strength, and mobility.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Liz during a time when she needs her community more than ever. We will keep you guys posted on her progress. We are so lucky to have everyone as family and friends.

With love and gratitude,
Craig Hartman & family, Ethan, Bear dog and close friends ❤️
