Help Liz Fight Endometriosis
Donation protected
Hi all,
If you've known me for any amount of time, you know my body has been it's own worst enemy. I've been poked, prodded, tested, biopsied, diagnosed, misdiagnosed, and re-diagnosed countless times since you've known me.
In the last few years, I've been trying to get anyone to evaluate me for endometriosis. I meet every marker and symptom, but as is typically the case for women's healthcare, I was told to suck it up and keep moving.
I finally found a doctor willing to take my symptoms seriously. We had a hysterectomy scheduled. I had insurance to cover it, and sick leave to take care of any recovery time needed.
And then the government, my employer, imploded on itself. I am being forced out at the end of the month, after a series of truly unbelievable events that definitely violate our union contract and likely violate ADA. I'll lose my insurance and my income.
I can get one more dose of the biologic I use to treat my arthritis before my insurance runs out. But I won't be able to get the medical leading up to and for the hysterectomy covered. I won't have PTO to cover recovery time. I've been applying to every job I see, but I won't have something in time.
If you've worked with me or hung out with me, you've probably seen me double over in pain. You've probably heard sharp inhales, or seen me fight to stay upright through bouts of pain. I'm hoping this surgery will finally stop that pain. I can't give up that hope, but I need help.
If I can find a job with health insurance, or where I can afford a markplace insurance plan, I can make it happen. But I don't know if I can in time in this market. I've never had such a difficult time getting through to recruiters or hiring managers.
I know everything is awful right now and everyone is struggling. If there's anyway you can help me get this surgery, I'll be forever grateful.
