Help Liz Billings-Fouhy Receive the Care She Needs

Donation protected
Liz Billings-Fouhy, a beloved and foundational early childhood educator in Lexington whose wisdom and compassion have touched countless lives, both locally and beyond, has been living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) since September 2021 (and, in reality, likely earlier). This disease is a progressive and debilitating neurological disorder that, to date, remains without a cure. Throughout this long and challenging journey, Liz has faced each day with courage, resilience, and a truly remarkable spirit.

Liz has offered extraordinary dedication and service to the preschoolers of Lexington since 1991. Her legacy of decades-long commitment to children, educators, and families in Lexington, and other communities, especially supporting children with special education needs, helped make possible a long-held dream: a brand-new preschool to call their very own. The state-of-the-art Lexington Children’s Place (LCP) was dedicated in the Fall of 2019. Liz’s insight, clarity, generosity, and compassion have helped shape the lives and futures of countless children, students, and educators.

Unfortunately, Liz’s progression with Parkinson’s has been unusually aggressive. This has resulted in four major falls between October 2023 and July 2025. Tragically, these falls caused two bone fractures and two significant brain traumas. As a result, Liz now requires substantial, daily assistance and supervision. Her husband, David, has been her devoted primary caregiver, but her increasing medical and safety needs have grown beyond what is sustainable for him to manage on his own.

Liz is now in need of skilled home health aides and additional support services to ensure her safety, dignity, and comfort which will give David the support, rest, and relief he needs to continue being her loving primary caregiver and advocate. In response, former colleagues and close friends have created this GoFundMe campaign to ensure Liz receives the level of care she deserves.

Funds raised will help cover:
  • Professional home health aides and in-home caregiving support
  • Medical, therapeutic, and care-related expenses not fully covered by insurance
  • Practical, logistical, and emotional support for Liz
  • Resources needed to stabilize and sustain home life during this unpredictable and challenging time

Any donation you are able to offer will make an immediate and deeply meaningful difference, for which we know David and Liz would be forever grateful.
