Hi, my name is Mars. Many of you know me through my art business, Mars Obsidian Arts.
Today, I’m reaching out for something deeply personal and close to home. Not for myself, but for my apprentice, Liv, and their family.
Over the past year, I’ve watched Liv work harder than anyone I know to chase their dream of becoming a tattoo artist while also strive to provide with their wife, Marissa, for them and their young son.
Tattoo apprenticeships are unpaid, demanding, and require thousands of dollars in supplies just to get started. On top of that, when Liv began, their family was sharing one car. Despite the challenges, Liv never gave up. They found a way to get reliable transportation, took on work, and made the daily hour long drive to their apprenticeship proving their dedication every single day.
It’s been inspiring to see Liv and Marissa give their all to this journey while balancing work, family, and the sacrifices needed to create a safe and loving home for their son.
But a couple days ago, something terrible happened.
Someone smashed the window of Liv’s car, their only source of transportation and tore apart the steering wheel, leaving the car completely unusable. After pouring every ounce of their resources into this new start, they now have no way to get to work or the apprenticeship that means everything to their future. This is now on pause until this can be fixed.
My heart breaks for them. I’ve seen firsthand how much love and kindness this family puts into the world. They’ve stood by me through some of my hardest days, and I can honestly say they are the kind of friends everyone wishes they had. Genuine, giving, and full of heart.
Now, I’m asking for our community to rally around them in their time of need. Any donation, big or small will go directly toward food for their family, car repairs or replacement, bills, and helping them get back on their feet.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this and keeping them in your thoughts as well as any help with food, car work, or anything possible you'd like to physically contribute. Every bit of support matters more than you know.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping lift up Liv, Marissa, and their son during this difficult time.
