Hi I'm Tucker! I just want to go out and play!
My Mommy got me as a puppy last year from a wonderful rescue organization in my hometown. They only knew my mother was some type of terrier mix. So we were all surprised when a few of us quit getting any taller pretty quickly! I have brothers and sisters who grew to be average-sized, but a couple of us are like me - short, with funny looking front legs. Well, we tested my DNA, and it turns out that I'm TWO kinds of terrier, TWO kinds of retriever, a little boxer, and a little bulldog, but I think the DNA that didn't do it's job is probably my 28% Bassett Hound! (Can you imagine the family reunions??)
Right now I take medicine to keep me calm and medicine to fight inflammation, because really anything more than walking is going to irritate and inflame my joints. Or where my joints are supposed to be. I think some parts are missing where my front legs are supposed to bend; the bone doctors took x-rays and made a 3D printed model of my front legs and they say that some bones are just not there. So other bones that aren't even supposed to touch bang together.
They need to do 2 surgeries for sure on the right one. And maybe one on the left. My grandma is making this page for me, she wants to help my Mom find a way to pay for my surgeries. All of the money will go straight to my doctor. My Mom knows that when you adopt a puppy that you have to be ready to take care of it financially, but they got me before they found out their other dog, my bulldog sister, had cancer and that cost them over $4,000. And she died anyway, a year after starting treatment. My bills so far are over $1,500, between x-rays, 3D models, a CAT scan,, and visits to the expensive specialist. My Mom works really hard at her factory job, but I also have a 9 year old human brother and she needs to take care of him too.
The first 2 surgeries are $3,500 apiece; we're asking for that plus a little extra for all the extra visits and the medications I have to take and to start saving in case I need that 3rd surgery.
I really want to be able to play with my human brother. He loves me so much!
