Hello, we’re Daniel & Daniela from Colombia. This is Stuart, our 2.5 year old cat, he suffers from Triaditis, Leukocytosis and Kidney Stones, a severe disease in cats that affects both liver, bladder and pancreas by an excessive inflammation. In our poor cub’s case, it is mostly derived from serious pancreatitis and an episode of kidney stones.

I feel its only fair we come clean, after all, this is built on honesty, and if we cannot be forward with you all, then how can we expect your honest help.

We have had Stuart since he was born. His mother, Simona, was a cat we rescued from the streets of Cali, Colombia, she was pregnant, with a litter coming, none of her vaccines acknowledged or surgery, a stray in all the sense of the word. We didn’t want to give up on her, we took her to a rescue shelter and helped with her treatments and eventually gave birth to her whole litter of 4 cubs.

Initially, we would have kept Simona while the cubs could be adopted by capable and willing people who were willing to take a chance at owning a little snow angel, or so we thought, as all strays, adoption is a difficult process and being newborn doesn’t make it easy, even though the shelter did their best and neutered the cats (Including our dear Simona), in the end only one little guy was left from the litter, that was Stuart, though we tried, argued and debated on whether we could afford 2 cats, specially a newborn, eventually we accepted, we took both him and his mom in, and Stuart became part of our life.

(This wasn’t without flaws, Stuart was neutered at 6 months old, we later learned it should have happened at 10 months old so his urinary organs would have fully developed, we should have known better, but still, that’s old water).

Stuart was always the heart of the two, he was extremely energetic, always running around the house, trying to catch bugs and keeping us company, even sleeping with us and staying at our side through our own difficult times.

However, on Sunday August 16th late afternoon, Little Stuart became sick.

We found Stuart, lying down and meowing loudly, with his belly palpitating, we raced to find a clinic that could have him checked up and even possibly stay overnight, and so they did.

The first imaging came out and the result was; Kidney Stones, and urinary tract that was underdeveloped and unable to let him pee them out.

Stuart was hospitalized for an entire day, and got a catheter connected to his bladder to help him pee. We took him back home and he didn’t want to eat anything, we had to force feed him with a syringe, and so we tried and persisted for 3 entire days, before he finally got his catheter out and we hoped that things would have gotten better (This process cost us over 384 USD).

To our dismay, it didn’t happen, his appetite didn’t get better, and his fever spiked, we took him back and he turned out to have worms and an infection going on, we were already at the edge, but fine, we got him on antibiotics and probiotics to deal with it, alongside the proper medication.

It has been a long 11 days since it all began, but unfortunately Stuart’s issues haven’t stopped. Though we have managed to stop him from peeing with blood, he still has sediments of minerals sitting on his bladder, and will require surgery eventually to take them all out and hopefully put the kidney stones issue down for good, as long as good can take us.

But regarding his serious appetite issues, lack of energy and sensitivity, we took him to a second vet and after running ultrasounds and a hemogram, we have been told that so far most of it all roots to a serious case of Pancreatitis, that as all cats deal with, devolved into Triaditis, affecting the rest of his organ bag, and would need to go through a daily detox treatment with IV Fluids to clean his pancreas and give him the nutrients he’s sorely needing, as even at the moment of writing this, he still refuses to eat (he even started denying Churus!, of all things).

Issue is, the treatment is over 30 USD a day minimum, and that’s assuming he won’t need other types of meds or further additional costs of treatment, we could be looking at bills of 300 USD a ten day, and with no clear timetable for how long this treatment will last, and the surgery still looming overhead (and we hope it stays overhead at least while we deal with this first).

We are at a stalemate of figuring out how we are gonna afford the following weeks to get our little pal back on his feet, 700 USD spent at the moment of posting this and with still more bills to come.

This fund is therefore, for his treatment, we have already covered 3 days of treatment and still scrambling by to get enough saved up for more days, but our sources of income are running thin and we can’t really afford to get enough money everyday to cover for him, we are stuck at the stage of taking up more debt just to keep the little boy alive, and at a certain point we won’t be able to get more quick money through loans to cover for our personal emergency, so we turn to you.

Any penny, any dollar, counts even if just a little bit, it buys us at the very least, time, time to figure out where to get more money to borrow, and most importantly, time for Stuart to receive treatment and hopefully get through this tunnel, because for as much as we hoped we could stop and just sell our things, save up, get another job, that takes time in 2026, and Stuart health can’t wait, it won’t wait for someone to buy our furniture not for them to review our applications.

Anything recollected through here will be spent on him getting better, and we’ll try our best to keep you posted or updated about his current health status every 3 days, if not a week, so you know where your money is going, and you know how much Stuart will progress from your contributions.
