Help Little Safi Receive The Surgery He Needs

My name is Safi and I need your help!
I was born 9 months ago near Byron Bay, Australia with a rare congenital birth defect that is best resolved if treatment is initiated before my first birthday.

Because this condition is so rare, I will let my mum and dad describe the details so you understand the importance and urgency of my situation.

My goal is correct this condition now so that I can live a normal life like all other boys my age. Please take the time to understand what we are trying to resolve and that we appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Safi’s Story
Safi was born with a congenital birth defect of the urethra and penis called hypospadias and chordee. Hypospadias is when the opening of the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder through  the penis) is not located at the tip of the penis, where it should be. Chordee is when there is, in Safi's case, severe curvature of the penis, only a partial foreskin and tethering of the skin.

Due to the severity of Safi’s case, successful reconstruction of his penis will require two or possibly three highly specialised surgeries.

What Safi Needs
It’s recommended by specialists for surgery to occur while Safi is young (around 6 to 12 months) since healing is more efficient in infants and there’s also a better chance for Safi not to remember the pain and discomfort during his postoperative care.After Extensive Research
We’ve realised that Australia lacks the help Safi needs as the average certified pediatric urologist only repairs around two severe cases per year. With reconstruction complication or failure occurring in 70% or more cases, Safi cannot afford ongoing operations as there’s high potential for negative impacts on him both anatomically and psychologically. At stake are his future sexual health/well-being and his ability to have children. There’s also the possibility of experiencing abnormal and painful urination.

Hypospadias Specialty Center (USA)
Considering the lack of hypospadias and chordee specialist surgeons and medical centres in Australia, we came across the Hypospadias Specialty Center located near Dallas, Texas, USA. The Hypospadias Specialty Center is one of the only practices in the world dedicated to hypospadias care and has a success rate of 90% with severe cases.

They’ve developed and improved the operations that get the best results for all degrees of hypospadias and provide corrective operations when repairs done elsewhere are unsuccessful. As we want the best possible outcome for Safi our preference is for this option!

Our Goal for Safi
We’re aiming to have Safi’s first stage of surgery by December 2020 and his second stage around June 2021. Hopefully, there will be no need for Safi to undergo a third stage of surgery; however if required, we will try to have it done by December 2021. Each surgery must take place at a minimum of six months apart. We will need to spend two weeks in Dallas, Texas, during each stage of surgery for postoperative recovery.

The Costs
The total cost of surgery and travel expenses for each trip to America will be around $31,500 AUD. Although we are focusing on the first $31,500 AUD, the total cost for both trips is estimated to be $63,000.
