On November 7th, I found a little white kitten in a rainy parking lot. She was wandering up to people as they walked by her but no one stopped or picked her up, so, I did. She was super friendly and well socialized, and just an absolute purr machine from the second I picked her up.
She had ear mites, fleas, an eye infection, and an upper respiratory infection. AND EXTRA TOES!

All but the upper respiratory infection (and toes) have cleared up, but the respiratory infection didn’t respond to the first two antibiotics we tried, and turned into pneumonia, which then turned into a collapsed lung on the 18th.

After a trip to the emergency vet, she’s on her third antibiotic and has shown minor improvement.
So far her care has cost more than I can afford and I’m tapped out on funds. The next step which would be getting a tracheal aspirate culture (to determine the correct antibiotic(s) rather than just trying various ones), and possibly IV antibiotics and oxygen therapy during an overnight stay at the vet.

Despite the gravity of her condition, she’s still being as happy and sweet as can be! She’s still very cuddly, playful, and very hungry, so the prognosis is good if we can get her to kick the pneumonia. She seems like a fighter, and I want to do everything I can to help her. She’s so sweet and loving; just a truly special little kitten.
The low estimate is around $600 for the tracheal aspirate culture consult and then the culture itself (getting a proper estimate emailed by EOD tomorrow). The high end is around $2-4k if she needs an extended stay at the vet.
Anything over what I need for the vet visit will go to paying off the care credit loan, or future funds for her.
Any help you can give would be so truly appreciated; I really want to save this little lady. ❤️
