We all know and love Little Nicky — she’s been an essential part of the WB Snow School family and our community for the past 20 + years, bringing so much warmth, dedication, and heart to everything she does. Sadly, Nicky and her family have recently received some truly heartbreaking news. She has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that likely began in her colon and has now spread to her liver, lungs, and sacrum.

The funds raised will help support their four young boys, cover the basic cost of living for a family of six during this incredibly difficult time, and provide stability as Nicky undergoes treatment.

The message below comes directly from her husband, Hayden.

THIS IS WHAT CANCER LOOKS LIKE….

Two weeks ago, on Friday Feb 27th whilst the world became uncertain due to the Iran war... My beautiful wife and mother of our 4 amazing boys became aware of her own war she was just starting to prepare for.

After many months of excitement and anticipation and about to step on a plane for our vacation to Fiji and Australia in a matter of days.. A visit to Emergency in Whistler after a morning of skiing with our boys and other family to check out what she thought to be nothing major (possibly symptoms of peri-menopause).. Suddenly and abruptly changed our lives forever.

An ultrasound showed multiple masses in her abdomen and without saying it in exact words the doctors told us she had a very serious situation and were going nowhere except for an urgent MRI to further confirm what they already knew was an extremely concerning and serious health matter.

Since then, we have been back and forth to hospitals/clinics day in and out for a barrage of never ending and devastating news. Every time we think the news can’t possibly get any worse it does. So far Nicky has been diagnosed with 3 large masses (between 10-13cm each) in her abdomen determined to be expected ovarian cancer. An MRI days after pointed toward spread to other areas so quickly a CT was ordered also.

Due to large volume of ascites fluid amassing around the tumors in her abdomen, drainage of this was also quickly booked to alleviate pressure to what could only be described as what had come to look like a pregnancy in fast forward.

At this point this is about as scary a situation as we ever thought possible. Unfortunately, since then we have endured catastrophic news day by day. After the CT results the doctors have found that the cancer has metastasized to Nicky’s liver, lungs and is also in her bone in her sacrum.

After first believing this originated from the ovaries in the last few days it has been established that the primary source is still unknown and she is now awaiting further procedures Tuesday to investigate her bowel and colon which may be the primary source. A biopsy of the ovaries is also currently being urgently scheduled. Without knowing the primary source, a proper diagnosis of the type of cancer and plan for treatment is still unknown. We hope to have these answers asap.

An emotional rollercoaster is hardly enough to describe what we have been through.

Nobody could possibly understand what she has endured the past two weeks and to still be able to put her smile on in the morning and be the most amazing mum and partner to us just shows the strength and resilience inside that makes us all love her so much! Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we continually try to navigate our way to a path to battle this together.
