Help With Little Miss Eve’s Eye Surgery
Donativo protegido
Our precious little Eve (Evie Weavie, Weave, Miss Weave, Little Lady, The Black Spot) needs her right eye removed. She has been developing discoloration in her eye over the last few years. What started out as a tiny speck just below her pupil has, over the last few months, grown to cover a large majority of her eye. Upon her vet visit on July 25th, we were told that there was a very high chance that this was malignant melanoma. Given that the growth is in her eye, there is no way for the vet to biopsy or test the tissue. However, suspicions of it being melanoma were supported by other findings such as extremely high ocular pressure, absence of other symptoms (runny eye, crusty formation), and her pupil being misshapen. Thus, enucleation was the plan. This decreases the chances of metastasis, as well as eliminate any discomfort she might be feeling from the growth.
Our little lady will have her surgery on August 4th. We are heartbroken for her even though the vet was adamant that cats bounce back extremely fast after this type of change. For those that have met her, you know just how sweet and goofy she is and hopefully being a one-eyed princess will just be another moniker she will embrace effortlessly.
The cost of her procedure, while not as much as we were expecting, is still steep. For those who feel compelled, we are opening up the option of donation to help cover some of the costs. Please do not feel pressured to contribute to her surgery cost! A share, a warm message, or holding our little girl in your thoughts as she heals and adjusts is plenty.
