Hello everyone,
My name is Neelam, and I am reaching out during the most painful and overwhelming time of my life.
I came to Australia in 2024 on a student visa with my little son, hoping to build a better future. At that time, I was managing everything alone as a single mother while my husband was in India. Life was already challenging, but on 7 November 2025, our world completely changed when my son was diagnosed with blood cancer.
My son Manraj is currently admitted to the Women and Children’s Hospital and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past two months. He is very young and cannot stay without me even for a moment. He cries in pain from the harsh treatment and its side effects, and as a mother, sitting beside my child day and night, unable to take away his suffering, is heartbreaking beyond words.
I am also five months pregnant, which makes this journey even more physically and emotionally exhausting. Because my son needs constant care, I am unable to work. Although we have private health insurance, it does not cover the full cost of treatment, and many essential medications are extremely expensive.
I am a Master’s student with high tuition fees, and my husband has recently joined us. Unfortunately, he is currently unemployed due to language barriers and lack of local experience. With no stable income and increasing medical and living expenses, we are struggling to survive.
With humility and hope, I am asking for support from my Punjabi community and all kind-hearted people. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help my little son continue his fight for life and help our family get through this unimaginable time. If you are unable to donate, please share this fundraiser with your friends and family—your support in any form means everything.
Please keep my son and my unborn baby in your prayers and blessings. Your kindness gives us strength and hope when we need most.

Varinder Singh is the husband of Neelam and father of Manraj Singh.
