Lucy was rescued when he was a few days old. He is from a feral colony in Alberta Beach. He was bottle fed until we got him at 5.5 weeks. When he came to us Lucy was ill with an upper respiratory infection& ulcerated eye . He was underweight and Malnourished . We took him to the vet and shortly after our visit Lucy became seriously ill. He developed ataxia and was unable to walk or do anything for himself. This meant every 3 hrs feeding , even through the night - help with expressing pees and poops ... we saw little improvement in the 36 days Lucy was with ataxia. We really thought he was going to die. Our vet suggested euthanization on Nov 28th. Lucy was still in bad bad stable condition. It broke my heart to hear these words so I searched for any sort of hope I could grip on to.
One thing lead to another and I ended up with a vial of GS treatment for fip in my hands .... everyday since I've seen remarkable improvements.
Today Lucy is just about 6 lb and 15 weeks old. He likes kibbles & paté, temptations , and lickable treats. He likes catnip and catnip toys. His biggest fascinations recently have been crinkles , feathers and any lid he can get his paws on. He claws the hemp twine on our cat tree and he bats at all of the hanging toys. He uses a normal litterbox & eats from a normal bowl / plate . He can groom himself from head to tail effectively now. He holds his head/ neck steady to drink water . His favourite spot to sleep is on a nice thick sherpa . He comes to me for love and then he is off terrorizing and causing mischief, exactly as he should be. I've just described a normal kitten - and I feel absolutely blessed to be able to do that today. It's all because of FIP WARRIORS & this miracle medicine GS - 441524. This gofund me will cover the costs of Lucy's medication and medical treatments.

Followup recheck
Nov 19
Lucy is improving on new diet. Slowly regaining movement if his tail. Started pooping unassisted. Moves from one spot to another on his own, backwards. Lots of spasms and stretching in the front paws now . Gaining weight finally.
Gums are pink. Poops are solid. He's eating fine still...
But the inside of his cheeks are swollen red and blistery ? The vet said probable cause is auto immune reaction. They gave an injection antibiotic that lasts 2 weeks
Emergency visit
Nov 28
Lethargic. Not eating 16 hrs, managed 1 tbs before appointment. Tongue sores swelled to the point they were over teeth, Lucy chomped them.. lots of blood. Lucy was semi ok the morning of but he became extremely weak in the afternoon.
Vet advised euthanization because of Lucy's poor condition . they advised possible surgery needed for oral " masses ". Upon exam they were solid.
Euthanization surely couldn't be Lucy's only option... the vet sent us home with Presidone again.
Dec 1 update
Lucy is doing better. Eating all meals & then some . Stood up to squat position to poop. A couple steps here and there. Much happier , alert. Lucy can drink and eat all by himself. Lots of stretching ,but still shaking sometimes.
Mouth doesn't seem to be an issue , no further inflammation. Will remain on warm puree & rinse after meals. We have till Friday & then will adjust the dose of presidone . I called the vet and called off the Euth appt.
I pleaded everywhere I could for help... one thing lead to another &with the help of a very supportive network of feline lovers; today I ordered our first vials of GS treatment for FIP. If you're interested in learning more about the treatments , reach out .
I am filled with nerves and hope as we await our first vials of GS. Thankyou for supporting Lucy's journey , I will continue to update on a regular basis .
