Lilli is only about six weeks old. A tiny black-and-white rescue kitten who lived on an open plot across from our home in Spain near Dénia. We, the Gregoris, saw her regularly - playful, lively and surprisingly brave. Although she was so small, she often stood her ground against much larger stray cats to protect her food.
Lilli has always been a fighter.
The day everything changed
Just a few days ago, Lilli came to us trembling, cold and completely exhausted as we walked to our car - as if she was seeking help. She allowed us to pick her up and wrap her in a towel without resistance. We knew immediately she needed urgent medical care.
We rushed her to the emergency veterinary clinic on Sunday. The first tests, medication and overnight stay already cost €330.
The diagnosis: Panleukopenia
The veterinarian confirmed:
Lilli tested positive for feline panleukopenia.
Panleukopenia is a severe and highly contagious viral disease that causes vomiting, diarrhea, fever, dehydration, abdominal pain, anemia and a dangerously weakened immune system - especially in young kittens.
Intensive treatment in the clinic
After several days of hospitalization, her veterinarian Valentina explains Lilli’s treatment:
“Lilli is receiving antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, vitamins and IV fluids. She also gets inhalation therapy every 8 hours and is being tube-fed every 4 hours. We strongly recommend that she remain hospitalized until she can eat on her own, is pain-free and her blood values improve.”
The stay from Monday night to Wednesday night alone costs another €320 and more expenses are expected in the coming days.
Small but hopeful progress
The clinic photos show how weak she is - but also how determined. Lilli has started taking tiny bites of food from the veterinarian’s hand.
A small but incredibly important sign of hope.
We are at our financial limit - and need help
The costs have already exceeded €650 and continued treatment is estimated to require another €800–1,200.
We didn’t go looking for Lilli - she came to us. And we cannot abandon her now.
Why your support matters?
Lilli can recover. The veterinarians believe she has a real chance — if treatment continues.
And the best part:
Our son has promised to give Lilli a loving forever home once she recovers.
Please help us give Lilli the chance she deserves.
Every contribution - big or small - helps more than we can express. We will keep everyone updated on her progress and medical costs.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Lilli is fighting. And we are fighting with her :)
