Hello, my name is Ellinca and I’m raising funds for my sweet 3-year-old nephew, Leo King — a bright, beautiful little boy whose life was turned upside down by a rare and aggressive kidney disease known as Nephrotic Syndrome.

Leo’s Story

It all started when Leo began swelling in his face, arms, and legs. What we thought might be a mild illness quickly turned into something terrifying. Doctors discovered that Leo was losing large amounts of protein through his urine, along with traces of blood. His kidneys weren’t doing their job, and his urine production dropped dramatically.

He had to have a catheter inserted to help monitor his urine. As the swelling increased, it became too painful and difficult to find veins to draw blood. Leo was taken to the operating room, where a line had to be inserted near his groin — an unimaginable procedure for such a small child.

Then we received devastating news:

Both of Leo’s kidneys are failing.

Doctors are still trying to confirm the full diagnosis, but what we know is this: Leo’s case is urgent and requires specialized treatment from a pediatric nephrologist in another country — someone with the resources and experience to manage this rare condition.

Leo has gone from being a playful, curious toddler to a child in pain, fighting for his life. As a family, we are heartbroken. Watching him endure so much, so young, is something no parent or relative should ever have to face.
