Hi, my name is Annerina. I am the mother of a child, desperately longing to be reunited with her four-legged best friend.

We adopted him for her FIRST birthday 8 years ago. They have grown up together and they are totally inseparable. We have so many photos, videos and happy memories of them growing up together. The world has changed as we know it and it is just not sitting right without him by her side.

I have made this profile, hoping and seeking the help & kindness of others, as I am financially unable to make her only wish come true: to have her best friend flown over from South Africa to the Netherlands. It has been 8 months since she last seen him and it seems that she only misses him more and more each day that goes by.

The initial plan was (of course) to also have him relocate with us, no question about it. We were ready to start his journey across the world with the trusted company that was going to help us with the process. Life took a horrible, unexpected turn which left us with a very big and unfortunate financial loss. Although we are feeling very blessed to have been able to pick up the pieces here and there, we are by no means able to afford or even save up for our daughter to have her doggy with her now.

It did not only break her heart when we had to tell her the truth about him not being able to join us in the Netherlands any time soon but it also broke our hearts as parents. As children so constantly remind us to stay HOPEFUL and have FAITH even though the circumstances may look otherwise, she prays in her little bed each night that somehow Mamies may find a way to be by her side again. She talks and dreams about how they will play in the park together, where his little bed will go once he is here (right next to hers of course). She dreams about how she will play with him in our garden again and how she will cuddle and play with him. Just like they have done for the past 8 years.

She recently found an old piggy bank and started to collect cents lying around in the house to save up for his flight ticket. I do not have the heart to tell her how long that piggy bank would need to be fed before the process can start again :(. I am honestly too sad about it for her. She misses him dearly and her heart longs for her furry "sibling".

My only hope is to reach out to a community of kindness and pay it forward in the ways that I am able to. As the quote goes “Kindness is giving hope to those who think they are all alone in this world.” This is what this fundraiser for my daughter will do. When you are on your knees without hope, humanity finds a way to unite people and bring back hope, gratitude and an appreciation for life.

I dream together with my girl. I too long for our doggy to be with us again. I hold on to the idea of making a reuniting video for her when we can go to pick him up at the airport. It would be a dream come true on so many different levels for our family.
