Four month old Emma should be playing, chasing toys, and discovering the world.

Instead, she is fighting to survive.

Emma was found as part of a litter in a neighbor’s backyard in Sofia, Bulgaria, but she was the smallest, weakest, and most sick among her siblings. Where others might have looked away, my sister could not. She picked Emma up and rushed her to the vet, only to hear the heartbreaking news: a severe eye infection had already destroyed her eye**. Emergency surgery was the only option.

On November 19, Emma underwent eye removal surgery. She survived.

But her fight is far from over.

Although my sister fell in love with her, she could not provide long term care, and without help Emma would have been returned to the streets to face the freezing winter as a one eyed kitten struggling to survive. I stepped in, hoping to give her a real chance at life.

With the help of my dear friend Maya’s foster mom who rescues countless cats in Sofia, Emma was transferred to Pet Friends Vet Clinic for recovery. But then came another blow. Emma was diagnosed with Giardia, a dangerous parasitic infection that causes severe digestive illness and can be fatal if untreated.

Because of the infection and her weakened immune system, Emma cannot even be vaccinated yet. She is fragile. Vulnerable. And completely dependent on care to survive.

Emma has been at the clinic since November 24, 2025, and each day adds to overwhelming medical costs for her foster mom. Her care costs $103 per week for boarding, not including medications.

I am trying to raise $300 by December 14 which will cover three critical weeks of treatment and give Emma the time she desperately needs to heal and grow strong.

I know there are so many animals who need help.

I know not everyone can give.
