Help Little Collin and his family

Meet Collin and his family
Hi everyone we are the proud grandparents of Collin, Vivian, Liam and Alice.  Little Collin and his family need our help.  It took me a long time to convince his family we should do a fund raiser to help with all of the traveling expenses and unforeseen costs of Collins surgeries.  With the help of Lisa Nichols, who owns Lisa Nichols Salon in Belfast, Maine and her wonderful staff, we came up with the idea of GoFundMe and also a Cut-a-thon taking place at Lisa Nichols Salon, 181 Waldo Ave. Belfast, Maine 04915 on Sunday, February 17th, 2019 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.

Collin is a four year old boy with lots of interest. He is just like all little boys except he is a little person.  He loves race cars, monster trucks, superheros, games, riding his four wheeler and playing with his big brother Liam and his twin sister Vivian.  He is  in pre-school and learning just like all of his classmates.

Collin was born with a very rare type of skeletal dysplagia called Diastrophic Dysplagia or DD.  DD only occurs in 1 in 500,000 births.  DD causes extreme dwarfism and multiple bone and spinal deformities as well as a number of various breathing difficulties and hearing loss.

Collin was born with cervical spine kyphosis (irregular curvature), club feet deformities and hip dysplagia.  He has had multiple casting on his feet and ankles.  He has slowly developed joint contractures on his knees and is unable to fully straighten his legs making walking and standing very difficult without the help of a walker.

Over the next year, starting March 26, 2019 Collin will undergo surgeries on both legs and his right foot, with the hopes that he will one day walk on his own.  Due the rarity of Collin's condition these surgeries will be done by experts at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for children in Wilmington, Delaware.  This will involve lots of travel, multiple hospital stays and follow-up appointments for Collin and his family.  Collin and his parents  will be heading to DuPont for his first surgery there on March 26th and will be there a week then return back to DuPont in 4 to 6 weeks.  He will then have surgery on his other leg a few months later.

We are hoping to take the financial worries off of his parents so they can concentrate solely on Collin and his needs.

Thank you all so much for supporting this energetic little boy and his loved ones.
