Help Little Churro Raise Some Big Funds!

Hi folks!

My name is Vanessa and I'd like to introduce you to a very special member of my family, Churro!

Who is Churro?

Churro is more than just a dog; she's my beloved companion, my favorite food critic, and a source of endless love and joy. Somehow she always knows exactly what you need, whether it's a massive smile and some shenanigans, a cuddle, or her favorite stick, she can always manage to pull you out of the stress and anxieties of day to day life. This lil pup just has the biggest heart, touching those of everyone she meets and I truly couldn't have asked for more in a furry friend these last 12 years. Unfortunately, I have recently come to discover that her heart isn't as strong as her spirits.

Churro's Journey:

Recently, Churro was diagnosed with a serious heart condition, and it has been an emotional and financial challenge for me to provide her with the care she desperately needs to remain comfortable. She has been experiencing many episodes of muscle weakness / fatigue, falling, disorientation, and shortness of breath that has been truly heartbreaking to witness. To ensure Churro has the best chance at a healthy, comfortable, and happy life I've been advised by veterinarians to continue seeing a cardiologist for specialized care.

My Journey:

I've always considered myself a fairly private person and don't typically share the more nitty gritty aspects of my life. But with this in mind, I do feel it's important to note how Churro and I found one another. I grew up in a fairly dysfunctional household and am a survivor of abuse. Because of this, I struggled greatly with my mental and physical health as both a teenager and young adult. My sister sought a way to help and thought it would benefit me to have a furry little side-kick to care for. Just like that, I suddenly found myself cupping the tiniest little 2lb fuzzball in the palm of my hands.

There were definitely points in my life where I wasn't sure whether I would be able to keep my head above water, but through all the turmoil and chaos, Churro was always patiently there by my side. She'd give me a little tail wag and a cuddle and I just knew that she was encouraging me to keep doing my best in her own little way. I often find it difficult to ask for help, but am doing so now because of my love for her. I feel that I only owe her the best possible care in return for taking care of me for so long.

Why We Need Your Support:

The costs associated with Churro's cardiology visits, diagnostic tests, medications, and potential procedures are overwhelming to say the least. As I'm sure many of you are aware, even just managing the basic bills like groceries, insurance, and PG&E (and don't even get me started on my student loans) has been tough these last few years. I live paycheck to paycheck, but want to do everything I can to ensure Churro receives the care she not only needs, but deserves. The expenses for these treatments have added up quickly, and I find myself in in a tough position.
