Help Little Charlie Get Her Insulin Pump
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for little Charlie, who is learning to live with type 1 diabetes at only a 3 years old, the medical supplies are expensive, even with insurance. The insulin pump that the doctors and specialist want cost more than $3,000 AFTER INSURANCE. (And that's JUST the pump itself) We are here to help this family get the supplies needed for Charlie's quality of life and ability to be a kid!
Here is their story (as told by her mom)
"December 12th we woke up and Charlie looked a little under the weather. The typical "toddler coming down with something" look. I called her doctor as I got an email we ate recalled Cucumbers containing salmonella. Treated it as a tummy bug. Rest. Fluids. Water. In hopes she got better. Only she got worse. And fast. The morning of the 16th I'm calling her pediatrician and the soonest they could see her was 17th at almost 4 p.m. I was an anxious ball of nerves til then. As soon as we got her into the office they immediately could smell the ketones on her. Something me as her mother wasn't even aware existed, let alone what it smelled like. The finger poked her and sent us straight to toledo children's hospital. Her Blood Glucose was 879. She was in ketoacidosis. Spent two days and 1 night in the PICU. Then two days 1 night in the children's hospital. Many many pokes and shots later and we got the Type 1 Diabetic diagnosis. Apparently "environmental factors" (like getting sick) can cause your immune system to attack your body and not the virus. And thats what is did. (It killed her pancreas instead of the salmonella.) Next thing I know we are getting education on how to do the blood sugar checks. And give the shots. Getting schooled on diabetes since neither of us have family with type 1. This is new to us completely. "
I have had the pleasure or knowing mom (Justine) and dad (Tyler) since we were all in jr high together, they are good people who help the ones around them and teach their little ones (Jr. 4 & Charlie 3) to be kind to the world! Let's show them that they deserve the help they give and get Charlie set up with her new norm which hopefully will be a pump that automatically delivers her insulin rather than the million pokes a day on a sweet little 3 year old girl. If you can donate! Thank you so much! If you can't, please share and thank you for taking the time to read!
