Hi my name is Cheryl Beck. I am fundraising for my granddaughter Aubrey. Our family's world turned upside down when our 3-1/2-year-old granddaughter, Aubrey, was hospitalized with complex pneumonia.

What started as what seemed like a simple virus quickly became serious. After two hospital visits, Aubrey was admitted to Grand River Hospital, and just a day and a half later, she had to be transferred to McMaster Children's Hospital in Hamilton for specialized care.

There, doctors had to place a drain tube in her chest to remove fluid from her lungs. She's needed oxygen at times to help her breathe because her little body has been working so hard just to get air. Through it all, Aubrey has shown incredible bravery-enduring countless pokes for IVs and bloodwork, smiling through discomfort, and holding onto her favourite toys for comfort.

Her parents have not left her side. But with dad losing his job due to being away and Mom taking a 

leave from work, the financial strain has been overwhelming. Being away from home means they're covering every meal, hospital parking, and daily living expenses-all while focusing 100% on Aubrey's care.

Aubrey just started Junior Kindergarten in September, and it breaks our hearts that she's now on medical leave instead of playing and learning with her classmates. Once she's finally able to come home, she'll still have a long recovery ahead on oral antibiotics before she can return to her normal routines.

Our friends and family have been incredible-taking care of their pets, checking in and cheering Aubrey on from afar. Now, we're reaching out for broader community support to help relieve some of the financial stress so her parents can keep doing what matters most: being there for Aubrey.
