Hi everyone,
I have set up this GoFundMe page for my very good friends, Grace and Cheyne, in support of their family during a very difficult time.

Grace's youngest son, Anthony, who is now 2 years old (ANZAC day baby), became sick in July 2018 when he was 15 months old. He was rushed to Emergency at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (NSW) where it is believed he had contracted a virus which attacked his organs. There, he was admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
During that time, Anthony was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Dilated Cardiomyopathy is when the left ventricle becomes weakened and the heart is dilated, therefore cannot pump the blood efficiently throughout the body.
The cardiologist said recovery for this condition was divided into thirds (1/3rd recover, 1/3rd stabilize and the other 1/3rd get worse and need a heart transplant).
This came as a big shock to the family and Grace remained positive her son would make a full recovery. Anthony remained on oral medication to treat the heart condition until January 2019 but was then re-admitted to The Children's Hospital for over eight weeks as his heart function had deteriorated.
Cardiologists from the hospital confirmed Anthony's condition had worsened and that he would need to be put on a Ventricle Assist Device (VAD) machine - and would need to remain connected to the VAD until he can have a heart transplant.
Did you know they only do heart transplants for kids in Melbourne? This meant that Grace, her husband Cheyne, Anthony, and his three other siblings have all had to relocate to Melbourne so Anthony can be on the VAD machine and taken care of until a compatible heart becomes available and a transplant can take place.
Anthony's dad Cheyne has had to leave his job to be able to be there for the family and to support Grace.
The family was only given a couple of days’ notice to pack a few bags and go to Melbourne and have now had to completely relocate so they can all be together whilst Grace is caring for Anthony permanently at the hospital.
The family is very grateful to the support and care of hospital staff, as well as Ronald MacDonald House, HeartKids and Air Ambulance NSW, who have been of great assistance especially with the transfer to Melbourne.
Any support or donation you can give would be greatly appreciated by this beautiful family. Financial support will make their time away from home more comfortable and give them the chance to focus on their children, in particular Anthony.
