Help Lissa See Again

Help Lissa See Again!   (Lissa is the one on the left, not the cat which sees just fine!)

For well over 20 years, our dear friend, Lissa Werson has worked tirelessly to make magic happen for so many in the Bay Area.  At Christmas and Easter and other times of the year, Lissa helps to organize free concerts open to everyone in the city of Oakland, CA and around the SF Bay Area.  So many of you out there have either attended the concerts she has organized, or you have had the blessing of performing for all those who came to listen and be lifted up in their life.  She needs your help today.

Lissa is a graphic artist who donates her time to provide art work for flyers and posters to advertise concerts at the Temple Hill Auditorium and at churches around the Bay Area.  She also works with musicians and artists arranging with them to volunteer their time for dozens of free community concerts every year - more than a thousand concerts over the years.   We're talking hundreds of hours she has dedicated each year for the past 25 years.  She also runs a website, TempleHillEvents.com, where people can order free tickets and get more information.  She takes no income from these activities and does not even recover all of her expenses.

These concerts and events are for symphonies, choirs, school groups, soloists, dance concerts by Bay Area community dance organizations, and piano concerts.  She also supports events presented by diverse ethnic populations in the Bay Area, including Cambodian, Chinese, African American, Tongan, Mexican American, and other communities.  She works with these performing groups to donate their time.  All these concerts are open and free to the public to enjoy.

But now she is losing her eyesite.  Cataracts in both eyes have taken away her ability to see the computer screen.  She can no longer create the publications, her art, that advertises these events.  She can no longer drive to help organize and lead these various events.  She can't even drive to the store to buy food, but must rely on others.

She has enough income to pay for her day to day living expenses, but not for the cataract surgery.  Today's cataract surgery is amazing and highly successful.  But it costs more than she has.  A few friends have offered money to help her, but it's not quite enough.  She needs another $15,000 to get cataract surgery for both eyes.  She has the surgery scheduled, but we need to help her pay for it.

Can you help?  This selfless woman has brought music and the arts to thousands and thousands of people for decades while receiving virtually no compensation.  She feels it's her calling, her gift to God and the people around her.  She just wants to share her talent, but can't any more.  Please help with $20, $100, or whatever you can.
