Adam is 17 years old and has lived with cystic fibrosis his entire life—years of treatments, hospital stays, and setbacks no child should have to carry. But Adam is so much more than his diagnosis: gentle, funny, deeply loved, and someone who finds joy in video games, his dog, riding his bike, and time by the ocean. Even through the hardest moments, Adam has shown remarkable courage and warmth.
Right now, Adam is facing one of the toughest fights of his life. He was admitted to the ICU with four respiratory infections, including Mycobacterium abscessus—a highly antibiotic-resistant bacteria that's extremely difficult to treat. Both lungs are affected. He's on IV antibiotics that may need adjusting, and he's had recurring fevers and needed oxygen support at times. For our family, this has been heartbreaking and terrifying. Through every frightening moment, his mother Lisette—a single mom, with Adam as her only child—has stayed by his side: talking with doctors, managing his care, comforting him, and making sure he never feels alone. Because she couldn't leave him during this crisis, Lisette recently lost her job; her company's policy didn't allow her to keep her position past two weeks. She didn't lose her job for lack of will to work—she lost it because she couldn't walk away from her critically ill son.
Even after Adam is discharged, his care will continue for months—outpatient treatment, homebound support, medications, and appointments. Your donation will help with essential household bills, utilities, daily necessities, transportation to and from the hospital and appointments, lost income while Lisette cares for Adam, unexpected expenses during Adam’s ICU stay, hospitalization and recovery, and ongoing support through months of homebound care. Every donation—no matter the amount—helps Lisette stay focused on what matters most: helping Adam fight, recover, and come home. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser; a share can be just as powerful. Adam has fought CF with incredible courage his whole life. Now Lisette needs support so she can keep fighting beside him—without the fear of losing everything while caring for her son. Thank you for donating, sharing, praying, and standing with them. Your support reminds them they are not alone.
— With love, Adam's aunt
