Lisë's Diagnosis
On December 1st, Lisë Taylor was confronted with a life-changing diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an aggressive, fast-moving cancer of the blood and bone marrow. She was transferred to Penn Medical where she was treated for more than six weeks and then, due to the risk posed by incoming COVID-19 patients, was ultimately released to convalesce at home. She must travel multiple days a week for blood counts, infusions, treatments and care, as well enduring several emergency room visits and hospital stays relating to complications due to her AML diagnosis. AML doesn't play fair and often changes the rules mid-game.
Following her diagnosis, Lisë’s life changed drastically overnight becoming a rollercoaster of numbers, blood counts, bone marrow biopsies, treatments, infusions, drug management, watching, waiting, readjusting, regrouping, resting, and repeating, all with an astronomical price tag attached.
In the coming months, her cancer treatment is anticipated to continue as Lisë returns to Penn Medical for an extended stay in isolation in preparation for a stem cell transplant. This will be a challenging time due to the intensity of the treatment, the separation from her friends, family and Ivy as well as facing the burden of an escalating cost of care. Following her stem cell transplant, she will be vulnerable to infection and will face an lengthy period of challenging restrictions to keep her safe as her immune system recovers. Despite this difficult journey ahead, she chooses to focus on the wonderful news that several perfect matches have been found for her stem cell transplant!
Who is Lisë?
Lisë is an active and vital part of her community and has touched countless lives with her kindness, care and generosity. Whether you know her as the much loved bread baker of the Chadds Ford Historical Society, a founder of Clover Dog Training sharing her expertise with countless families and their dogs, an expert framer at the Strawberry Sampler and member of the crafting community, through her participation in agility training and nose work with her dogs, or her pet- and house-sitting services, she has devoted her life to caring for animals and people alike. Now, due to her compromised immune system and the challenging recovery ahead, she can no longer participate in the communities she loves, take her beloved German Shepherd Ivy on adventures, or work at the jobs that sustain her life and livelihood.
Why Donate?
Since her diagnosis, all her streams of income have ceased. The massive financial burden of her care and treatment has made it difficult for Lisë to focus on her recovery. To help alleviate this burden and support Lisë through the difficult year to come, our hope is to raise $10,000. This will help to pay for her medical insurance, living expenses, and the exorbitant cost of treatment.
Lisë inspires us with her strength and positive focus as she navigates through this difficult journey. She is so grateful for the support she has received from her family, friends and community throughout her fight with cancer. Any assistance you can provide to help her in this fight would be truly appreciated, whether through a donation of any size, a prayer, a kind message, or just by sharing this page.
