Help Lisa's Journey to Recovery and Peace

Hello friends. First off, I want to express thanks for visiting our gofundme. Living in this “internet” age that we have friends and family so near and so far, quite literally, around the globe, this page is meant to to share some news with you and to ask for your consideration for a couple of things:

Lisa my spouse recently got diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. We are past “endlessly” worrying about the unknowns (I.e. the first 3 weeks living in the “waiting period” for clarifying the diagnosis or basically leaving it “untreated”). I say “endlessly” worrying because, even as she’s getting the chemo/immuno therapy right now, our faith has never been tested in this way. Sufficient to say, an unexpected turn in her treatment can often trigger this weird - really weird - form of grief in me. So the first thing I ask you is to send your thoughts and prayers on our way for 1) healing and just as equally for 2) peace.

I’m also wanting to ask you to consider for a financial give, so long as you feel at peace with it. With the medical news, it threw a big curve ball in our lives. The medical stuff is proven to be the not only surprise part in this whole package.

But as you consider for ANY amount as little as a coffee order, I ask you to only give if you’re at peace with it - more than anything.

For a full disclosure though, in the financial goal I set, we’re including Lisa’s trip to Guatemala with International Justice Mission for an in-depth look at IJM’s work to protect and free women and children. You may wonder if she’d be healthy enough to travel medically. I KNOW RIGHT!? It seems like a crazy idea to me. And still is! But her oncologist will closely monitor her progress but so far he has cleared the trip.

Thanks friends for taking time to read our most recent update. This is not where we’d chosen to be. But this is where we are. As a counselor, I’ve been challenged to practice what I often preach to my clients: To be in the present. This entails one thing in particular: working on our denial, if we all can… So I’m trying my best to accept. To accept something out of my control. And I’ve come to know LOTS of things are out of my control. Or most in life, I should say. But with His help, I cling to the hope and trust that we will beat the crap out of cancer soon.

If more questions or thoughts, please reach out to me or Lisa on social media or via our cells. Thanks again for reading friends
