Help Lisa's Hip Cancer Journey
Update From my mom on 5/07/24:
Health - much stronger, doing more, mostly feeling good, still fatigued easily, issues with eyes, feet, sinuses. All weekly blood labs normal, 4 week tumor marker labs normal BUT April's (2) advanced blood biopsies show increased cancer since last ones in January which were at nearly zero, for one it is now up to 1.1 for several types of cancer and the other has gone from 4 up to 14, so Dr Chue, my oncologist, says this plus my recently increased hip and leg soreness indicate cancer progression. So what to do? Yesterday I switched to a different chemo. I need to take more supplements and more frequently. I will see the good naturopathic next week. Would help to do more hyperbaric oxygen treatments.
Finances - Bills for cancer care mounting. My insurance plan reduced coverage for 2024. I am trying to make payments on about $12k of medical bills so far. Thank you for praying for provision for my bills and medical expenses. God can provide. Will be having scans on hips, abdomen and chest soon.
My mom has battled stage 4 breast cancer, and was successfully in remission last year. In April this year she fell onto her right hip which became increasing more painful, only finding out in August that she had unhealed deep pelvic fractures, that the hip was lower than it should be and twice twisted and that the hips and pelvises also have severe metastatic cancer in the bones.
Meanwhile my dad decided to leave mom in June. Mom and I will stay in the house until the spring but need to put it on the market to finalize Dad's divorce proceedings. Mom has just treated with radiation in the right hip, and will restart weekly chemo the first week of October for 6 months to 2 years. Mom cannot bear weight on her right leg yet, and they do not want her exercising at all for some weeks yet. But the fractures may be finally starting to heal as sporadic, spiking level 10 pain every day is down to much lower, tolerated levels this week.
Mom has help from friends and some family here and there - thank you so much to those of you - and I am her dedicated primary caretaker for now. She has a long road before the bones will be hopefully stable for some procedures to untwist the right hip. Currently she is inoperable.
Mom had no insurance in August 2023 when she went to the ER and top docs to find out what to do. She has good insurance now someone has graciously provided, but nutritionist consults, supplements, copays and deductibles and other costs are not covered. She is also still making payments on medical bills from last year.
Our Go Fund Me goal is for ongoing testing, scans, treatments and medically related expenses.
The account is managed by her son Evan (me) Thank you for your prayers, God bless and feel free to email me with any questions.
