My name is Shannon and I’m making this for my incredible big sister, Lisa, because she really needs us to come together and help her right now.

Lisa worked 49 years in the hospitality industry, brilliantly taking care of the needs of others. She worked hard towards her personal goal of finding a home in which to retire, only to be completely blindsided by her diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, a cancer which reared its ugly head first by fracturing her spine, which she had continued to work with unknowingly!

Eventually, she had to throw in the towel and begrudgingly stop working to receive treatment and a full stem cell transplant in Buffalo… all costing well into 5 figures with money being spent on transportation, lodging, gas, etc. Not to mention her maintenance medication that costs $19,000 monthly, so a loss of benefits would be catastrophic. Her Multiple Myeloma has no cure. We can only hope to put it into hiding, which thankfully at the moment it is.

Then, just when she thought she might be coming up for some air, she was dealt the blow of her apartment building being sold and her rent doubling with more security money being tacked on. Completely not doable. She has only 60 days to relocate. There is no senior housing, no section 8 available, and she has absolutely zero funds to move into any new apartment.

Since we never had a benefit for her when she was first diagnosed… now is the time…

Please, whatever you can muster will help immensely. If we raise enough, there’s a chance that it could be a down payment for a small house, so that her payment would be stable moving forward and this could not happen again, which was the goal before cancer came along.
