Donate to help Lisa’s struggle to be a little less real
My name is Peggy, and I am setting up this GoFundMe for Lisa. She and I met through both of us being managers at a local McDonald’s restaurant. She became the GM of the location in 2018. We were not only coworkers, but we became the best of friends. I was fortunate enough to be able to retire in late 2023 after a 32-year career. Lisa is still currently the GM there today and fears that with her current situation, she will never be able to get to retirement.
Lisa has faced struggles her whole life, as some of us are all too familiar with. She has overcome hardships throughout life that have made her the strong woman she is known for being today. Lisa is a very private and proud person who does not like to face defeat. However, she is nearing the end of her rope with no other options available and agreed to let me share her story.
Lisa is a single mother of now-grown children with struggles of their own. She has only herself to rely on to handle financial debt that has accrued from medical debt that has been a result of surgeries and medical procedures which began in 2022. She lives on a GM salary and does have medical coverage, which comes at a significant cost. She is able to work a second job for a few months throughout the year when work is there, but that is not always available.
Lisa’s life began to shift when she learned of an eye condition she discovered at an eye doctor visit. She has to have eye injections every 4 weeks for the rest of her life to prevent blindness that will occur without these injections. The medical issues didn’t stop there. She experienced a fall through no fault of her own that led to a knee replacement surgery. Lisa suffers from a condition caused by past traumas that makes her bones very soft. She learned that within weeks of her knee surgery, she was also going to have to have back surgery as well. This took place within months of each other, causing her to be out of work for 6 months. This is what has led up to what she is dealing with now.
Lisa came through those obstacles and was trying to recover when even more medical issues came her way. She has had heart issues throughout life but began having complications and had to have heart ablation procedures to correct her heart rhythm. She recently began having more pain than she is accustomed to with her back and knew that something was wrong. After having CT scans and an MRI, she discovered that she has a new fracture in her spine and hardware in her back has become loose. This means another future back surgery.
Lisa has taken steps to try to get some of the debt under control. My husband and I have helped financially where possible; however, our resources are limited. She doesn’t qualify for options that require credit scores or trying to get funds from home equity. She has literally exhausted all possible options to give her the relief she so desperately needs.
She lays awake at night in fear of losing her home and everything she has worked so hard for. The simple act of getting out of bed and going to work, things that most of us take for granted, has become a struggle. The struggle of trying to figure out how she can possibly pay out each month more than what she has coming in has reached a critical point. We have both prayed for some kind of miracle to get her out of this nightmare that she can’t escape from. I have felt very compelled to do something, anything, to try to help my friend. For those of you that know me, I am not on social media and have only my words and the ability to share via texting to people that I know. I will be asking for the help of my friends and family as well as Lisa’s to help us to share and spread this message.
Randy, my husband, has been helping Lisa to manage her debt to go after the most critical and most impactful to least critical and least impactful. She has asked us to manage the funds with a direct link to her financials, allowing us to help her use the funds to have the most success. All funds collected will go straight to Lisa.
Lisa may become very emotional and overwhelmed when her story starts to reach those whom she knows and loves. Help me to show her your love and support by donating whatever you feel led to donate. No amount is too small and will be welcomed with gratefulness and appreciation. I love Lisa and consider her one of my dearest friends. Lisa has been through so much, and she always says that she believes that God never puts more on us than we can bear. Help me to show Lisa that she is not alone and that God has not deserted her. Help me show Lisa the footprints in the sand. When there is only one set of footprints, it is then that God and all of those who love her have carried her through her darkest time.
Thank you for your time and letting me share Lisa’s most private and desperate struggle. Help me to make Lisa’s struggle a little less real. God bless you all, and thank you again for your time.
