UPDATE, 12/27/18: Lisa is so thankful for all the help she's received so far. She has a follow up appointment, on Friday. She's still experiencing pain & now numbness, which is concerning.
With the funds raised so far, she's covered past due amounts & saved up a bit for next month's expenses. As of today, she's short around $500, for her January rent payment, so that's the immediate need. Lisa is off the payroll, at her current job. Lisa Lee is our neighbor, our friend, an animal advocate & a person in need. She has a unique story, where she had been living on the streets, due to many circumstances. The community of Oak Cliff rallied around this kind soul & her dog, hoping to get her the help she needed. She's been thriving, through the support of her community & has been able to maintain her own home and foster and adopt more pets. Animals are her calling & she even has gotten jobs working with pets.
Fast forward to this year & her employer shut down. She took it in stride & found another job, taking care of animals, utilizing her bike & mass transit to get to work across town. About a month ago, Lisa fell, in her home. She had issues moving, but still pushed through it. She called 911 & the EMTs dismissed her symptoms. She tried to go to her Dr & had XRays done, but no follow up. Then ended up in the ER again, with severe pain. Finally an answer came & she has an acute fracture of the superior endplate of the L1 vertebral body (ie. a broken back).
Lisa is not going to be able to work, while healing & has more Dr visits & treatment coming up. It's a scary road & her support system is you & me. Please consider donating today to help her get caught up on bills & have a buffer to be able to heal.
