Help me keep my baby home!

Hello I’m  Lisa the main caregiver for my grandson Xzavien whom has been full time in my care for the last 8 out of the nine years of his life.  The first year my grandson and both his parents lived with me.  When they decided to split up I told my grandsons mother that  she could stay with me as long as she needed until she got her own place.  She decided instead to leave and left her son behind with me.  I assumed it would be temporary and soon realized she had no intention of coming back.

I was happy to be taking care of him and loving on him.   As a child who was abused and left at the hands of mean adults and a broken CPS system, I decided he would never feel that as long as I lived.  I never wanted my kids or my grandkids or anyone I love to ever feel less than or unwanted.  I’m living up to that promise.

My grandson has multiple learning disabilities and health problems and so do I but we’ve mustard the strength and courage to get through it all together.  While he didn’t speak until he was about 6 years old  you could not tell if you spoke with him. He is an intelligent, brave and kind boy. Anyone who he interacts with will tell you that.  Teachers, family and friends alike know how great he is.

Xzavien has made tons of progress and now all of that progress may be at risk. As my grandsons main caregiver I’m seeking full custody of him so that he doesn’t have to worry about being snatched away by a mother he doesn’t know.  Unfortunately I cannot afford an attorney. While I know and understand I have rights as a grandparent, I do not have rights to legal representation.  In short I must retain my own lawyer and in order to do so I need funds to pay for those services.
