Hi, my name is Jessica Lea. I'm from Steelville, MO. I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa, first on Facebook, then over the phone, and finally, in person, the first day they arrived here in our small town. I knew from the moment that I met her that she was a kindred spirit, I'm so thankful that God brought her and her precious family into our lives, we are blessed to know them and call them our friends.
Lisa (41) and her husband, Jack, are the parents of 7 beautiful children, Chance (17), Nate (14), Samantha (13), Xander (13), Dovie (10), Gwennie (6) and Jackson (3). I am still getting to know Lisa and Jack, but from the short time I've been around them, I already know that they are kind, loving, generous, giving people who love the Lord and desire to serve Him with their whole heart. They followed the Lord's leading and completely uprooted their life in California (where they were both born and raised) to start a new adventure here in Missouri (the SHOW-ME state) with their family. We have welcomed them into our community, now let's SHOW them what our community is all about and give them our support and love.
I'll let Lisa explain in her own words her diagnosis and
how we can help them.
From Lisa's Facebook post on October 1st:
"I have been diagnosed with cancer. They found 6 lesions in my liver, a tumor in my rectum which is causing back pain and bleeding. Also a tumor in my large intestine near my left lower rib cage. This is not good news. I am asking for prayers. I need wisdom and resolve, peace and strength."
Update from Lisa on October 7th:
"I’m writing to give an update as to what the next steps are for me and how you can pray and help. I have met with several Doctors, the local chemo and radiation doctors say that this cancer is so rare that there is no traditional treatment that will work and I have 1-2 years to live.
With that being said I refuse to believe that is it for me. I have been searching for people that might have a different take. I met with a local holistic Doctor that thinks I should visit a place called Envita in Scottsdale AZ where they use a traditional and holistic approach. I talked to them yesterday and they think they can help me get better. The problem is that the specialized labs cost $8,000 to $16,000. In addition once they get the labs back and determine a treatment plan for me the cost ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 for treatment that lasts about 8-12 weeks. That does not include lodging as it is an outpatient center.
My insurance will not cover this treatment because it is holistic even though they also do traditional treatments there as well.
I am asking for prayer to make right decisions.
I’m asking for prayer to provide the funds I need for the treatments.
I’m asking for prayer for healing
I’m asking for prayer that the rectal tumor doesn’t block my bowel while I’m in the waiting phase for treatment.
I’m so angry that insurance companies won’t cover treatments because it doesn’t line their pockets at the expense of peoples lives.
God is so good and has a plan. I am determined to trust him in this and not let Satan consume me with fear.
I hate to ask this but what do you think about me setting up a go fund me or something of the like? Would there be people out there who would be willing to help me with the finances?"
We are hoping you will join us in supporting Lisa and her family with prayer for these specific needs and financial contributions, as well.
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. -James 5:14-15a
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. -James 1:2-5
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. -Joshua 1:9
Please share with Lisa, Jack and the children your favorite Bible verses to encourage them along this journey.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support.
