I'm doing this fundraiser because someone near and dear to me is losing her battle with chronic Lyme disease. My best friend Lisa Eskew has been fighting this horrible disease for about 8 years. Over the last couple of years, her Lyme disease has progressively gotten worse. She deals with a lot of neurological symptoms, body-wide pain, stomach issues, partial intermittent paralysis, and she is also losing her ability to drive her own car. It started with headaches, dizziness, vertigo, and body-wide pain. After many doctors' appointments, and a year later, she found out she had Lyme disease. The infection was initially missed and Lisa has complex nervous system damage, she also has heart issues, and most recently her symptoms are presenting as stroke-like symptoms. All this has overwhelmed her immune system.

I've watched my friend deal with complex symptoms that have become her daily life. She has missed so much time with her family and friends. The balance issues and confusion have left her unable to drive on most days. She has ended up in our local hospital 4 times. After many tests, her neurologist, Dr. Walsh, told her that all her debilitating symptoms were from chronic Lyme disease. Before Lyme, Lisa had a good life. I've seen her have to step back from time with her family and grandchildren because of the progression of this disease. She's been forced to slow down, isolate, withdraw, and just try to survive most days. We pray daily for God's healing, and for him to open up a door for better treatment and knowledgeable doctors.

Just recently, we found a place in Arizona with excellent success rates for people with late-stage Lyme disease. She has spoken with them on the phone, and they are sure they can help her.
