Help Lisa and Madison Rebuild After Tragedy

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for our friends, Lisa and Madison Butler.

On November 3rd, tragedy struck Lisa and Madison’s barn — turning their peaceful barn into a scene of absolute heartbreak. Within just a few days, 12 of their 14 cherished horses were lost to botulism poisoning, a rare and devastating toxin that was spread through contaminated hay.

Madison, a devoted young horsewoman, discovered the crisis herself and did everything she could to save their beloved horses — calling vets, comforting each horse, and staying at the barn day and night.

Despite the tireless efforts of multiple veterinarians and friends, the losses continued throughout the week, including Madison’s main competition pony, Kyoko — her “Super Pony” and constant partner on the polocrosse field.

Madison’s passion for horses extends far beyond polocrosse — she’s been involved in many equestrian disciplines, including hunting, jumping, and both western and English riding.

Among those lost was Dahmer, her hunt horse, along with several others she’d trained and shown at local events. Each horse represented years of dedication, partnership, and love.

The emotional toll is beyond words — and the veterinary and cleanup costs are going to be astronomical. Between emergency veterinary care, removal of contaminated materials, and rebuilding a safe environment for the two surviving horses, Lisa and Madison face an immense challenge in recovering from this loss.

This fundraiser will help:
  • Cover the significant veterinary and cleanup costs from the crisis
  • Support ongoing care for their two surviving horses
  • Help Madison begin to secure a new competition horse(s) and continue the sport she loves

Lisa and Madison’s horses were never just their own — they were shared with others, helping countless players and friends experience the joy of horses and the polocrosse community.

Your generosity will now help return that same spirit of kindness to them as they begin to heal and rebuild after this unimaginable loss.

Every contribution — no matter the size — means the world.

Please share this campaign and keep Lisa, Madison, and their two remaining horses, Gotti and Sarabi, in your thoughts and prayers.
