Hello. We are Lisa and Jerrell. This is the hardest thing I have had to do, admit we need help. Jerrell has type 1 diabetes. He has been through so much. He is the strongest person I know. Suffering a toe and leg amputation did not bring him down. We finally were able to work hard for 1 year to buy a home, the first for both of us. Jerrell went into renal failure before the first mortgage payment. He was in a coma and hospitalized for weeks without pay. I was able to keep things going, but then my car was totaled while he was in the I.C.U. Thank goodness for my gap insurance. He had to start dialysis, away from home without pay. He graduated to home dialysis and hooks himself up every night. He needs to so he can stay alive. We are one step away from the transplant list. With him being in the hospital and not being able to work, we fell behind and are now drowning. They are threatening to cut the electricity in our home. We both work from home and his dialysis machine needs electricity, not to mention his insulin. I am on a payment plan with the mortgage company and cannot miss a payment or they will foreclose. This makes it difficult to catch up. We are not asking for a windfall. We are not that type of people. We open our home to anyone that may need a meal, couch, or just some love. We are not extravagant. I have raised children that are not my own and we have not been on a vacation in over 15 years. I know everyone is struggling now and that is why I am so ashamed to be asking for help. I have reached the point where I know we need a little help. To my family, I am so sorry if I disappointed you. I really tried my best to keep it together. I still am. Thank you for listening to a small part of our story.
