Hi, our names are Sarah & Erika, and we wanted to share about the situation of our friend and neighbor, Lisa Auyong. Lisa Auyong's home was totally destroyed in the recent Eaton Fire in Altadena, CA—her home for over 25 years. She also lost her car and all her possessions except her cell phone and the clothes she was wearing.
A bit about Lisa's story - In 2016, she lost her dear husband, Sam. Since Sam's passing, Lisa's own health has gradually deteriorated. She has been completely bedridden for over a year.
While evacuating her home, on the evening of January 8, Lisa fell while struggling to get in a neighbor's car, resulting in a broken leg and ankle. Lisa almost lost her life as she waited nearly two hours in intense pain for an ambulance to arrive. She was buffeted by gale-force winds, flying debris, heavy smoke, and a raging fire coming ever closer. Lisa's home and car are a total loss.
Lisa is still recovering in a local hospital and there are so many aspects of recovery that lie ahead. Your donations will assist with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid. Please give if you can. Every dollar is greatly appreciated.
NOTE: we don't have many photos of Lisa, partly because she lived alone and many of her photographs were lost with the house. We're working on getting more recent photos of her so you can see her beautiful face! Thanks for understanding!
