Help Lis Teach Zumba Again!
Lis has been a dear friend of mine ever since I started taking her Zumba Gold classes years ago. Recently, she began having severe pain in one of her knees, preventing her from teaching Zumba. Upon going to the doctor, Lis learned that she has a medial condyle and medial meniscus tear in her right knee. She now needs to have a Right Knee Arthroscopy with a partial meniscectomy in order to live pain-free and get back to her job and passion: teaching dance therapy exercise to individuals with disabilities.
Since 2007, Lis has sought to provide dance therapy exercise for people with disabilities in memory of her late son, Juan Carlos Garces, who suffered from Muscular Dystrophy. She is certified in Zumba® Fitness, Zumba Gold® (for beginners and seniors), Zumba Toning® (body sculpting and high-energy cardio work) and ZumbAtomic® (for kids 4-12), Aqua Zumba®, and prior to her knee injury, provided instruction at classes throughout San Diego County. Lis was one of the first Zumba® instructors in San Diego, and has built a regular following throughout the county with her Latin music-inspired professional, joyful, and inspiring classes.
Lis is a wonderful, kind, and caring person to all people, especially those with disabilities. In order to get the surgery she needs, Lis will need to cover the difference that her insurance doesn’t pay. The estimated amount is $4,500 including physical therapy. Please consider helping Lis fund her surgery and recovery.
