Help Lis Recover from Double Mastectomy!

Hi!

My name is Cristina and I am fundraising for my partner Lis. Those of you who know and love Lis know that they are a goofy, caring, gentle, tough, sparkling rainbow unicorn of a human. They are a devoted partner, friend, dog lover, kennel assistant, Highland Games athlete, gym rat, artist, and aspiring pole dancer. And if you don't know and love Lis, then that's just a small sampling of the joy and fun and honesty they bring to life.

In early August of this year, Lis was diagnosed with stage 1 of 3 carcinoma in their right breast. This diagnosis is not fatal, but definitely serious. Also, this is not Lis' first rodeo with cancer, nor is this their first mammogram that's brought up concern with doctors, so we're taking this seriously and doing a double mastectomy to lower the risk of recurring cancer cells to as low as possible. The surgery is scheduled for November and thus we are reaching out to you, our community!

Now, as you all know, major surgery is MAJOR SURGERY. It is expensive and takes you out of your daily life and work for an extended period of time. So for around six weeks, Lis will not be able to work at their job as a kennel assistant, since wrangling stressed out dogs and cats doesn't go well with healing major surgery on your chest. Between that and covering the medical bills and any unforeseen expenses during this time, they're gonna need a bit more financial support than just their retiree pension.

Every little bit helps to making this a stress free recovery period while Lis gets used to this new body landscape, focuses on efficiently ejecting the cancer from their body, and still caring for their dogs and house and loved ones.
