A Bittersweet Goodbye: Liquid Sands Gallery Closing

Dear Friends of Liquid Sands Gallery,

After 16 wonderful years in business, it is with a heavy yet hopeful heart that we announce the upcoming closure of Liquid Sands Gallery on Wright Square. Since our humble beginnings in 2009 on Broughton Street, where we showcased the work of eight talented American glassmakers, our mission has always been to bring beauty and inspiration into everyday homes through exceptional art.

Our journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs. From navigating the chaos of a disruptive nightclub neighbor in our early days to finding our forever home at 5 W. York St—a place that held a special, almost serendipitous meaning to us—every step strengthened our commitment to the arts and to Savannah’s vibrant community.

We persevered through the hardships of the pandemic, but the prolonged federal courthouse construction and street closures have proven insurmountable. Despite our best efforts, the impact on our foot traffic and sales has led us to this difficult decision.

We invite you to celebrate our story by visiting us as we close this chapter. Our gallery still has many beautiful pieces waiting for new homes, and we’ll soon be offering furniture and fixtures for sale as well. Your support now would mean the world to us—whether through a purchase, a kind word, or sharing our story with others.

Your donations today will help us to cover outstanding debts as we close down and ease the uncertainty of what lies ahead. Every bit of support helps and is deeply appreciated.

We hope our story serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting local businesses and independent artisans. Shopping small keeps our community strong and creative—something we’ve always cherished and championed.

Thank you for being part of our journey. While Liquid Sands Gallery may be closing, our passion for art and community remains. Our website will continue and we will offer as many artworks for direct shipping as possible after the transition. We look forward to what the future holds and to seeing many of you in the gallery one last time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Kym

Update: We are truly grateful and humbled by the donations so far. This has been one of our most difficult times due to matters we cannot control. We truly hope to get past this disruption and into sunnier days ahead. Thank you for helping to keep our small business going. Every donation no matter the size is truly a help in these times. ❤️

At Liquid Sands Gallery, we genuinely believe in the power of COMMUNITY and CONNECTION. As we navigate through these challenging times, we find ourselves facing significant obstacles due to federal construction surrounding our beloved gallery. After enduring three long years, with two more years ahead, the impact has been profound. We need YOUR support now more than ever to help us thrive and continue showcasing the incredible talents of local and national artisans.

We are Savannah's only glass art gallery. We opened in 2009 on Broughton St. with 8 makers. We moved to our current location on Wright Square in 2011, we now represent nearly 40 American Studios, including several Savannah makers. We love being a part of Savannah's vibrant art community, but we need our community to help us get through the Federal Courthouse Construction and closure of Bull St on Wright Square that has greatly impacted foot traffic, parking, and our daily business.

2020 was a wicked year for small businesses like ours. To survive that but then be faced with over 5 YEARS of construction and road closures is simply too much to offset on our own. We don't want to be in this position after 15 years. We want to keep bringing you incredible artworks, lighting, gifts, and jewelry. We need your help now more than ever. We'd love it if you shopped our store. For those who want to help without shopping us, we've set up this campaign. All funds will go to makers for inventory, and to help with rent and other overhead expenses.

We are truly humbled and grateful for the donations and the shares. They are all appreciated! Shop us here anytime!
