Help Lionesses 110 per cent musical perform at Gatehouse

Donation protected
Lionesses 110% is a brand new musical celebrating the trials and triumphs of women’s football down the ages. Be a part of this important story based on true events from the banning of the Women's game in the 1920s to the modern game - three generations of passionate women battle for their right to play football, breaking the shackles placed on them by a hostile society. Lionesses 110% has been workshopped at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and now has it’s first rehearsed reading on October 21st at the Gatehouse Theatre, Highgate London. We are asking for your help to make this special night even better and share in our love affair with football.

How you can help the team win

Who are we ?
Composer and writer Andrea Vicari lectures at London's Trinity Laban. Theatre work includes music for Austerity-The-Playbook with Mark O’ Thomas (head of LAMDA) performed at Northern Stage and Hoxton Hall, and the musical "Chet Baker Speedball" premiered at the Oval Theatre and London Jazz Festival.

The cast is a group of Trinity Laban Musical Theatre students who have just graduated and have been working on the musical through workshops. TLMT

About The Show
110% is a musical about the history of women’s football based on true events set over three timelines from the 1910s through to the near future.

Three generations of passionate women battle for their right to play football, breaking the shackles placed on them by a hostile society.

Two friends must choose between love and money if they are to triumph in the World Cup.

A Love Affair ... With Football

Lotte, one of the main protagonists, tells the story of her family which has produced generations of world class female footballers. As well as tales of loss, class discrimination and unrequited love, we journey through the history of women’s football from WW1 to the 1970s to the near future. 110 years of 110% commitment to equality.

Why are we asking for help ?
This is our first performance and we need some funds to make this once-in-a-lifetime theatrical opportunity a real success on October 21st. We will use the funds raised to support the cast and cover costs associated with putting on an evening at a theatre. Success at this early stage could lead to further opportunities to take the show all the way to The Final - a full all-singing-and-dancing performance. Please help make this event be truly amazing !

Our Target:
Our Ultimate goal is £5000 but with any funds you can still make a difference to the people involved in this production. If you help us by donating this will go towards covering the costs of professional sound, lighting, costume, rehearsal space, dance studios, special effects, actors and musicians expenses and wages. The more we raise the more complete and satisfying a performance we will be able to stage. Can you help ?

Why this matters ?
New musical theatre writing will only exist if there is some philanthropy. There are few funds to apply to make theatre happen and yet this musical offers so much to potential new audiences. It not only tells a story based on true events for women’s football but it also shows that women can succeed and sends out a very important positive message.
“Because when a girl plays football, the world sees her differently. Instead of being complimented on her nice looks she’s admired for what she can do, putting her on a more equal footing that can alter the whole trajectory of her life’s ambitions.” Moya Dodd (Australian football star)

Timeline
We need to raise funds by October 21st 2024. Below are our goals laid out in the structure a football tournament - can we go all the way ?

What each goal achieves - the more we get the more we can do

Group Stage £1000
Publicity costs. Without a good campaign no one will come and see us ! Although online is free physical media - ie posters and flyers are not. Help us get the word out and help Gatehouse fill the house.

Round of 16 £2000
Pay expenses for the volunteer cast and musicians. Although our players are performing out of love for the show and the art form everything costs.

Quarter Final £3000
Employment of a sound engineer and technicians. What's a musical without the songs ? And songs sound so much better when you have a skilled professional at the sound desk.

Semi Final £4000
Employment of lighting engineer. Some say theatre is lighting. An expert can turn an empty room into a theatre and a theatre into the Theatre of Dreams. Greenlight lighting !

Final £5000
Film the show. However great the night once the curtain falls it's gone forever unless you have a recording. If we get everything above in place it will be an event to remember that you will ever be a part of - because we hope you'll also come to the performance - if we professionally film the show.

110% £5500
Did we say £5000 ? That would be amazing but any funds we raise beyond that will help us take the show to the next level so it would not be in the spirit of the show if we didn't at least try for 110% or £5500
