Hi everyone, my name is Dr. Leah. I worked with this wonderful cat named Linus. He was surrendered by his owner due to him having a medical condition known as a Portosystemic Shunt or a PSS. A portosystemic shunt (PSS) in cats is an abnormal blood vessel that allows blood from the digestive organs to bypass the liver, where it would normally be filtered to remove toxins. Since the blood isn't properly detoxified, these toxins build up in the bloodstream, causing various symptoms that affect the nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary system. Linus has been managed medically for about a year, but unfortunately, his health is taking a turn for the worse. He is vomiting, not eating, and having neurological issues such as incoordination, balance issues, and not being able to land his jumps onto the counter or furniture. I’m trying to help his owner facilitate his treatment, which includes a CT scan of his abdomen to locate the shunt and determine the severity of it, as well as determining if he is a candidate for surgery to occlude his shunt. Please consider donating to help this wonderful cat get a new chance at a normal life. No amount is too small; anything would be appreciated, even if you just share the post. Thank you :)
