Hi, I’m Lindy and I have a lot of yucky pride and a whole lotta resistance, and fear in regards to asking for real help, but here we go. In mid-March I was admitted into the hospital for a Kidney Stone. After x-rays and testing they discovered an Ovarian cyst on my right Ovary (second one in six years), and even more alarming, after a couple days of continued pain (and more tests), they discovered that the cyst was pushing into my right Ureter, blocking my Kidney from draining into my bladder, thus causing my Kidney to balloon. Surgery was unavoidable. They removed the cyst, and kept me in the hospital to see if the surgery had any impact on the health and function of my kidney. In total, I was in the hospital for about a week.
Prior to this hospital visit, I had just returned to work after being out two weeks, with Covid-19. The recovery from the surgery took about two more weeks. Leaving me without a months worth of pay. Something mighty tricky to navigate when living paycheck to paycheck. The stimulus check that landed that same week, was a godsend and helped me pay most of my living expenses/regular bills. Following the surgery, I was encouraged to attend follow-up appointments with my surgeon/OBGYN and the Kidney specialist (that last one I skipped cuz I couldn’t pay for it lol). Generally, the surgery was a success, and I was able to keep my Ovary, and experience relief from the excruciating pain I was dealing with. BUT, here’s the thing… I’m struggling pretty severely financially, and I can’t seem to get ahead enough to also seek the post-op care I need. Recently some pain has returned near where my right Ovary is, and frankly I need help. There’s no way I can keep pretending I’ve got this covered, cause honestly, I don’t. Simple as that.
Anything you give will be greatly appreciated (and will probably make me cry tears of overwhelming gratitude), and ultimately be used to pay off my medical debt, and get the ball rolling on my healing journey. Big love to anyone who has the means and generosity to help me out. I love you.
Also, fuck the U.S. healthcare system.
