Help Me Turn this building Into a Community Hub

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Lindsey Fitz, and I’m reaching out to share a dream that’s been on my heart for as long as I can remember a dream rooted in family, fueled by purpose, and centered around healing, connection, and growth.

For the past 44 years, this building has been home to my family’s restaurant and bar once a formal supper club where my grandparents and family built something truly special, now a beloved local hangout with burgers, pizzas, and 1919 root beer on tap.

I’m currently in the process of buying this building from my grandma not to shut it down or change it, but to preserve our family’s legacy and expand its purpose to serve our community in deeper, more meaningful ways.

✨ The Vision: One Building with Endless Impact

Once I’m able to secure the down payment to purchase the building, here’s what I’ll be creating within this space:

The Restaurant & Bar (No Changes Yet!)

The restaurant and bar will remain exactly as it is for now.
My mom is still running it and serving all the favorite dishes you know and love.

When the time is right, it will eventually evolve into a cozy café with:
☕ Handcrafted coffees & mocktails
️A few of the original menu items
A warm, welcoming space with board games, work tables, and community

A Recovery space where we can host meetings of all kinds and provide meals as a Café — in Partnership with the Recovery Café Network (upstairs & dining room area )

I’m also in the early stages of starting a nonprofit for the Recovery Café, using the national Recovery Café Network model.
This is more than recovery from addiction  it’s recovery from:
Grief
Mental health struggles
Trauma and loss
Life transitions

This Recovery Café will provide:
- Free meals for members (you attend 1 meeting per week and help out as you can to be a member)
- Peer-led recovery circles and support meetings
- Community connection and purpose-driven programming

We’re currently collecting community surveys to make sure this space serves real local needs. The response has been amazing  and shows just how important this vision is.
the Recovery Café Network requires 6+ months of training for board members, and I’m committed to doing this the right way, with full transparency and community involvement.

Why This Means So Much to Me

This building isn’t just real estate. It’s a huge part of my family’s story. I don’t want to see it bought by an outside investor and turned into something that doesn’t serve our town. I want to keep it in the family and transform it into something that continues to evolve with the community not apart from it.

I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was a little girl  running Kool-Aid stands, selling Girl Scout cookies, and always dreaming big. I’ve never fit into the 9–5 mold. I’ve always known I was meant to create something that makes a difference  and this is it.

Why I’m Asking for Help

I’m raising funds for the down payment on the building around $75,000. I would love if I could avoid the bank all together and pay for it in full ($300,000) so I am getting creative and saving everything I can. As a self-employed entrepreneur building a heart-led business, I don’t always fit the mold banks are looking for  but I know I’m meant to steward this space.

If this story resonates with you…
If you believe in small-town dreams, in legacy, in healing, in growth…
If you want to see more spaces where people feel seen, safe, and supported…

Please consider donating any amount — even $1 — or sharing this with your network.
Every dollar brings us closer.
Every time someone donates it puts it in the algorithm to be seen more.
Every share helps this story reach more hearts.

Want to Get Involved?

I’m also looking for board members, community partners, and people who want to be part of building this vision  from the ground up. If you’re curious or feel called to help, please reach out.

Together, We Can Build This

This isn’t just about me. It’s about us.
This is about small-town resilience, intergenerational legacy, and healing the whole human body, mind, and soul.

Thank you for your time, your support, your heart.
Let’s build something beautiful together.

With love and endless gratitude,
Lindsey Fitz
