Help Lindsey Overcome Cancer and Health Challenges
Donation protected
Urgent help needed. Lindsey had to have surgery recently and the cost of surgery was over $38,000. With the cost of prior chemotherapy and radiation the medical cost is overwhelming. Please consider helping! Every donation adds up and will help to overcome this urgent need. She has an upcoming payment due by December 1st.
My name is Venee and this is my co workers daughter she has an incredible story....
My name is Lindsey Isley. I have a husband (Joshua) of almost 12 years and two beautiful
children (Ryan & Raelyn).
This is my fighting story. . .
In October 2020, I was diagnosed with stage one ovarian cancer. We were thankful we found it
quickly and were ready to fight. However, due to the start of COVID, getting surgery scheduled
was hard due to the limited scheduling at the time. In December 2020, I finally received a
date/time for surgery and had surgery for a complete hysterectomy and a partial oophorectomy
(only the cancerous ovary was removed). Following surgery, beginning in February – May
2021, I did radiation treatments, followed by chemotherapy. Six months later while completing
my first PET scan since surgery and treatments (October 2021), we found that the cancer had
metastasized to the remaining ovary and was at stage 2. In November, I had surgery to remove
the final ovary and again followed surgery WITH radiation and chemotherapy treatments for
several months. In June of 2021, the doctors discovered that I was having a lot of swelling on
the brain and thought it was a side effect of the chemotherapy treatments that I was going
through but between June – November, I had 12 lumbar punctures to take off spinal fluid on my
brain and put it in my back where the spinal fluid that was running low. However, my spinal fluid
got so low in my back that I had to have donor spinal fluid placed. In the start of 2022, I had
positive expectations, and thought things were good, we had taken the turn to me getting better.
We were just going to do the few MORE radiation treatments they were saying that I needed, but in
May of 2022, again during a regularly scheduled follow-up PET scan, they found out I had a
massive tumor on my brain. Praise the Lord, We found out it was A noncancerous tumor, but it
was pushing on nerves in my brain, causing me to have functional problems, and the doctors
felt it was best to remove it. We had the procedure done to remove as much of the tumor as
possible, but it was wrapped around a portion of my brain, and they could not remove the outer
shell coating of the tumor without removing a portion of my brain. Instead, they implanted some
radiation seeds inside the tumor cavity to get rid of the remainder of the tumor that couldn’t be
extracted. Things started to look up in July of 2022, but again 6 months had gone by, and it was
time for the routine, repeat PET scan. Unfortunately, from the scan we found out the ovarian
cancer had now spread to one lymph node under my arm. To be safe they wanted to take out
the whole lymph pod under both arms, so we had the surgery to remove these pods. They were
very hopeful and felt like that they had gotten all the affected nodes, and very hopeful it would
not spread. But again, this resulted in more radiation treatments and chemotherapy to make
sure all the cancer was gone.
We were ecstatic that we were seemingly finally heading in the right direction and going to be
able to move forward with our lives as a family. We felt that everything was good, then in July of
2023 at the time of my next PET scan, things had changed again, and we were told the cancer
was back and this time it was in the form of leukemia. They stated the leukemia more than
likely came from having so many excessive radiation treatments, as leukemia is one of the side
effects of radiation. They told me I needed surgery but that my body wasn’t strong enough
because of the leukemia. They said they needed to be aggressive to treat this and started me
on chemo again. After trying 3 different types of chemotherapy, they told me the chemo is not
working cause my body was rejecting it.
Which brings you to where I am today. We are trying different alternative medicines at the
moment and living life as normally as possible. Unfortunately, the swelling on by brain is back,
and I have reduced spinal fluid running down my spine. After a MRI last week, I was told I
needed back surgery due to the collapse of 7 discs in my back. This will have to occur soon
within the next few weeks due to the extremely low spinal fluid or it could cause permanent
paralysis.
Those that know me, know that my life’s motto is “never let the fear of striking out, keep you
from playing the game.” I know God has a plan for me, but I’ll admit that somedays, being an
earthly humane, it is hard to understand and see the big picture that God has in store. I have to
shake myself on those days and trust God. I just know without my family; I wouldn’t be here
today. My mom has been a backbone when mine has been weak and the best encouragement
around. My husband has made a way to be there in the good, bad, and ugly. My kids have
kept a smile on my face even in the toughest of times.
Times have been tough financially with me having to take time off from work in the last four
years due to treatment and surgeries. And on top of that, my husband has not been paid some
weeks as a mechanic because of the business not being profitable enough. Our immediate
family and close friends have helped as much as they can. I am mentally and physically tired,
but I try to keep a smile on my face, because I realize it could be worse and there are many
others going through as much or more. I know that God has got this, and that He will provide.
I’ve already seen Him send people across my path at the very time that I needed it that have
blessed me when we didn’t have the money to keep going. Our God is an awesome God!!! I
give Him all the glory for preserving me and bringing me through and I will continue to trust Him!
