Support Lindsey's Gastric Cancer Recovery

Hi my name is Jen and I am starting this GoFundMe for my sister, Lindsey.

In November 2023, Lindsey was diagnosed with Signet Ring Gastric Cancer, an incredibly difficult challenge that came only 9 months after the tragic loss of our mother to cancer.

On December 18th, Lindsey and her husband Jeff traveled to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where Lindsey underwent a total gastrectomy surgery to remove her stomach. However, the road ahead was paved with severe complications, including collapsed lungs and soft tissue emphysema.

Just three days later, on December 21st, Lindsey required an emergency open right hemicolectomy surgery due to a cecal volvulus, which caused necrosis in her cecum, appendix, and colon. As if that wasn't enough, Lindsey then experienced infections in her open incision on two separate occasions, further prolonging her challenging recovery process.

Throughout this incredibly trying time, Jeff remained by Lindsey's side in the hospital, supporting her every step of the way. Lindsey spent over two weeks as an inpatient at MSK, celebrating Christmas and ringing in the New Year away from her three young children.

The physical toll on Lindsey's body has been immense - she has endured significant weight loss of over 30 pounds and continues to battle dehydration, dizziness, exhaustion, and malabsorption issues. While we are grateful that the surgery was a success, her road to recovery is long.

Lindsey has faced a difficult hiatus from work and will require  and her return will be a gradual process as she regains her strength. Simple daily activities that most take for granted have become physically limiting for her. As Lindsey and Jeff focus their energy on her recovery, we now have an opportunity to support them and alleviate some of the burdens that come with such a major medical event.

Lindsey and Jeff are two of the most generous, caring individuals who are always there to help others, but they are reluctant to ask for help themselves.
