Hi, my name is Lindsey Dae Viera, and I’m a proud Latina from North Philadelphia and an honor student at Central High School (286)! I was raised by a single mother, a first-generation college graduate who has always been a trailblazer in our family, serving as a community leader and youth advocate. I’m also a cheerleader for the Philadelphia Police Athletic League, and I love staying active and involved.

I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to participate in CIEE’s High School Summer Abroad program in Italy, which will be a life-changing experience. Thanks to a partial scholarship, I’ve been accepted into this amazing program, but I still need help to cover the remaining costs.

This trip will be more than just a summer abroad — it will be a chance for me to gain independence, step outside my comfort zone, and take on greater responsibility. As a second-year Italian student, I’m passionate about the language and eager to continue my studies. Spending time in Italy and speaking with native speakers will allow me to develop my language skills in ways that classroom lessons can’t provide. I’ll also be able to immerse myself in Italian culture and history, bringing what I’ve learned in class to life in a meaningful and unforgettable way.
