Help Lindsey Eilts Rebuild Her Home

Hi, my name is Joy, I live in Midpines, and I am raising funds for my good friend Lindsey Eilts and her daughter Nevada June, to help them rebuild their tiny home that they lovingly built, and only got to live in for two short years, before it tragically burnt to the ground. Lindsey and her daughter Nevada lost their tiny home in the Oak Fire, which ripped through Mariposa County on July 22, 2022, burning their cute little tiny home and belongings to the ground. They need financial help to start the building process from scratch completely. They also need help replacing their belongings. Update: Lindsey asked me to change the fundraising goal to the minimum allowable because she would prefer that a goal not be specified. For her, fundraising is not about the end goal. It's about the value of loving support from friends, family, and community, like you!

Bringing the newly built tiny home to their land

In addition to losing her tiny home that she worked so hard to build, Lindsey also lost her kitchen trailer (she loves to cook and bake!) and her car in the fire, which quickly tore through her tight-knit neighborhood on Buckingham Mountain Road in Mariposa. She was away and unable to evacuate any of her and Nevada’s belongings. Nevada’s dad lives just down the road and also lost his shop, tools and vehicles, but his home didn’t burn. Tragically, they also lost their vacation rental income home to this fire. All funds will be directed to Lindsey and Nevada to help rebuild their home and replace their belongings.

Before

After

I’ve offered to help her with this fundraiser to ease the emotional burden of losing EVERYTHING, and reeling from the loss. Many of her friends and family in her neighborhood of Buckingham Mountain Road were also deeply affected by the fire, and some of them have also lost everything. This has been a deeply emotional time for this neighborhood as they process the grief and loss of all that they had.

One of the strongest, most independent, and most giving people I know, Lindsey has been through many challenges but has always puts everyone else first and is very humble. She is a lover of horses, and a talented horsewoman, who spent many years working at the Virginia Lakes Pack Station, leading clients into remote wilderness areas in Ansel Adams and Yosemite National Park Wilderness. She is also a loving mother, who has been dedicated to home-schooling her 9 year old daughter Nevada, and offering her amazing experiences in the Sierra Nevada foothills and mountains. They are both avid skiers as well, who spend much of their time skiing at Badger Pass and Bear Valley; and Lindsey was also a long-time hut keeper at Ostrander Lake Ski Hut in Yosemite National Park. Because Lindsey is a talented cook and baker, she is always cooking for friends, and bringing them food when they are in need. In addition, she often serves as a cook and baker for remote wilderness ranches, such as the Muir Trail Ranch. This accomplished mountain woman and loving mother has spent much of her life immersed in the outdoors, and has worked hard to provide her daughter with a loving home among friends and family in the town of Mariposa.

Lindsey grew up in the Eastern Sierra in Hamill Valley, between Benton Hot Springs and Bishop. She has since established herself in the small town of Mariposa, where she spends much of her time operating and maintaining her family’s vacation rentals, cooking and baking for a living, gardening, homeschooling her daughter, and recreating in the Sierra.

Thank you so much for helping Lindsey and Nevada rebuild their lives together!
