Linda has always dreamed of seeing the ocean. After working for 43 years, she was recently forced to leave her job due to complications from diabetes, which led to the amputation of her leg. She was in the hospital for 47 days, facing not only physical challenges but also the emotional weight of losing her independence and worrying about her future. She needs a handicap ramp for her home and other accessible accommodations for her home.
Her immediate need is for one month of health insurance as she was forced to retire from her job today and her employer-sponsored insurance ends May 1. The cost for coverage for one month is $1,081.00. She simply does not have anywhere near that amount of money, having not worked for over 2 months.
Despite everything, Linda’s spirit remains strong. Her bucket list has always been simple: she wanted to see a Minnesota Vikings game (which she did a couple of years ago) and to feel the ocean breeze on her face. Now, as she adjusts to life in a wheelchair and faces uncertainty about her future, I want to give her something amazing to look forward to—a trip to the ocean when she is finally given the OK to travel by her doctor.
The funds raised will first cover her one month of health insurance and getting her home accessible for her. Anything more will be put towards a trip to see the ocean. All of Linda’s expenses, including travel, lodging, food, and any special accommodations she may need, will be covered. This trip will not only fulfill her lifelong dream but also remind her that life can still hold beautiful moments, even after such a difficult journey. Please consider donating, sharing this fundraiser, or sending Linda a message of encouragement. Your support will help make her dream come true and show her that she can still experience joy and adventure.
