Linda Newman has been a pillar of support and kindness for so many people throughout her life. As the secretary at my school, she was enormously popular with the students, always offering a warm smile and a helping hand. Beyond her work, Linda has 44 years of sobriety and has mentored and sponsored hundreds of people, guiding them through some of their toughest times. Seventeen years ago, Linda moved to New Mexico to care for her ailing mother, and she has been living in that house since 2009. After her mother passed away in 2019, Linda hoped to continue living in the home filled with memories and love. Unfortunately, her stepfather had arranged a reverse mortgage before he passed, which meant Linda could not inherit the house. Now, at 79 years old and living on a fixed income, Linda has been served foreclosure papers and faces the heartbreaking possibility of losing her home. This house is more than just a place to live—it holds a lifetime of memories, especially from the years she spent caring for her mother. Uprooting her life at this stage would be emotionally and financially devastating. The funds raised will help Linda settle the loan or provide a down payment so she can remain in her home, preserving her stability and honoring her years of service to others. Please consider helping Linda stay in the home that means so much to her. Any contribution will make a difference and show her that the community she’s given so much to is here for her now.
