We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support for our beloved Linda Mika, who has bravely endured a series of devastating medical challenges over the past several months.

The journey began with an urgent surgery on June 6th, when she was hospitalized for a severe cecal perforation due to diverticulitis. The operation was only the beginning. Despite a successful initial procedure, she quickly developed small bowel ischemia, requiring another major surgery on June 17th. During this procedure, surgeons were forced to remove five feet of her small intestine and create an end ileostomy, a life-changing outcome that has profoundly impacted her daily life.

To complicate matters further, ongoing issues with her small bowel and known superior mesenteric artery insufficiency led to a vascular surgeon being called in to explore revascularization. Unfortunately, her condition continued to decline. The remaining small intestine, duodenum, and stomach are now severely compromised. Further resection of her small bowel is not compatible with life.

After 51 days in the hospital, Covenant released her on July 24th with recommendations for in-home health care and hospice support. Since then, she has been living at home, surrounded by loving family members who provide round-the-clock care.

The cost of medical supplies, specialized nutrition, hospice care, and in-home support has quickly become overwhelming. We are doing everything we can, but the financial burden is more than we can manage alone. That is why we are turning to the kindness of our community for help.
