If you know Linda Melfi, you know she’s not your average 81-year-old. She’s a force of nature—whether dancing the night away or catering an event, Linda has always been the life of the party. Her spirit is vibrant, her heart is made of gold, and she never sits still… until life forced her to.

In early February, Linda began showing signs of confusion. Thinking it might be something minor like a UTI, her daughter Lisa took her to the doctor. But an MRI the next day revealed something no one could have imagined—a brain tumor.

Just six days later, Linda underwent brain surgery. While doctors were able to remove most of the tumor, the biopsy brought devastating news: Glioblastoma, Grade 4—a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. Since then, Linda has undergone:

15 rounds of radiation and chemo pills

5 major surgeries in under two months, including brain surgery, shunt placement, and infection-related procedures

Multiple hospital and ICU stays

Ongoing inpatient rehabilitation to regain strength and mobility

Despite everything, Linda’s fighting spirit remains. She's currently in a live-in rehab facility, determined to walk again and return home with Lisa.

How You Can Help:

Once Linda is strong enough to return home, she’ll need continued care—physical therapy, home health visits, medical equipment, and daily support. Unfortunately, Medicare only covers a portion, and the out-of-pocket costs are already overwhelming.

Linda has always been the one to show up first when someone was in need—usually with a tray of food in hand and a warm hug. Now, she needs us.
